I can't decide

When I first began planning my wedding, I planned on having a ceremony in the church with a reception right after in the church's gym. I startd to rethink it though. Partly because while I like the idea of being totally the center of attention, when it comes down to it, I find it uncomfortable. And I would need to decorate the chapel. And after the ceremony, there is typically an hour where the couple takes photos and the guests attend a cocktail hour. Well there is no where really at the church to take good pictures, maybe a couple places outside. And since there will be no cocktails, what will everyone do while they wait?
So I came up with the idea of a very small ceremony on the beach that would be family only. I liked the idea because the beach would be great for pictures and I like the idea that it wouldn't be alot of people staring at me. And we could take a limo or trolley to the church to meet all the guests for the reception. The downside to this is that on the beach, there will be a lot of tourists that are just walking the boardwalk that would stop and stare. And you can never predict the weather. And in Sept it still might be hott. And I would need to rent chairs and get a licence/pemission. And I don't want my guests to feel left out.
So now I am thinking having a ceremony on the beach with everyone then a reception right after at the church. I just dont know!!! What do you guys think? I started a poll to the right so all my readers can vote

Wedding Traditions

I was looking on and I came across a list of wedding traditions and trivia. I think these are funny

The English believe a spider found in a wedding dress means good luck. Yikes!

Saturday is the unluckiest wedding day, according to English folklore. Funny -- it's the most popular day of the week to marry!

Ancient Romans studied pig entrails to determine the luckiest time to marry

Peas are thrown at Czech newlyweds instead of rice.

Engagement and wedding rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because it was once thought that a vein in that finger led directly to the heart.

In the symbolic language of jewels, a sapphire in a wedding ring means marital happiness.(My ring is a white saphire)

Most expensive wedding ever? The marriage of Sheik Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum's son to Princess Salama in Dubai in May 1981. The price tag? $44 million.

In Denmark, brides and grooms traditionally cross-dressed to confuse evil spirits!

Ancient Greeks and Romans thought the veil protected the bride from evil spirits. Brides have worn veils ever since

The tradition of a wedding cake comes from ancient Rome, where revelers broke a loaf of bread over a bride's head for fertility's sake.

The custom of tiered cakes emerged from a game where the bride and groom attempted to kiss over an ever-higher cake without knocking it over.

Queen Victoria's wedding cake weighed a whopping 300 pounds.

Legend says single women will dream of their future husbands if they sleep with a slice of groom's cake under their pillows.

On average, 7,000 couples marry each day in the United States.

Escort Cards

My wedding topic today is place cards. For a long time I thought that I would just let all my guests seat themselves. I thought that it would make the wedding a lot more casual. And it would be a lot easier for me too. But the more that I think about it, the better it would be for everyone if I assigned tables. I want my guests to feel comfortable and not have to worry about finding a place to sit. I have been trying to think of different ways to set up the place cards. Here aresome ideas that I like the most.
A simple board hanging each card

Trees or branches with the place cards hanging from them

A chalkboard with a list of who is at each table

playing cards with the number on the card being the table number you are at

A big elegant framed list that almost looks like a menu

I like the math cards in the corner. The answer to the math problem is the table you sit at

An antique frame around the place cards

What do you guys think?

I have always loved shoes. When I was little, we would get a new pair of sneakers at the start of the school year. I would drag my mom to a ton of stores to find the perfect pair of shoes. As I got older, I couldnt go into a shoe store without buying a pair of shoes.
I have just started my research for the shoes for my wedding. I want to wear flats for sure. I do love heals but Patrick hates it because it makes me a lot taller the him. I am not sure what i want. I was thinking possibly blue for that something old, new, borrowed and blue thing. What d yo think of these?

I Won!

This may soundvey dorky, but I am excited about it so laugh at me if you want.
The show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, is my biggest guilty pleasure. I often go on celebuzz to check out thier blogs. One day, Kourtney (the oldest one with a baby) wrote that she was going to be a part of The Nation's Fastest Speed Greet Contest. Basically what it is is one person from each of the 50 states will be selected to ask Kourtney a question live via skype. I thought what the heck, I'll enter a question.
Then this week, I got an email saying that I was a finalist and I need to fax some release forms before being officially chosen a winner. I tried to use my mom's fax machine, but I had no clue how it works, so then I went to try it at work. I tried to send it two times, both times it said the line was busy. The email said it needed to be done before 5pm and it was getting close so I just gave up.
Today as I was leaving work Nicole, the girl that in charge of the entries, called me and asked if I recieved her email. I told her my issues and she faxed me the stuff and I tried to fax it to her again and it finally went through.
Tonight I got the email stated that I was chosen as the representative for New Jersey! I am excited. My time slot is 6:25pm Eastern time Monday March 28th. If anyone would like to watch, just go to You will need to have or download the Adobe Flash plugin. You can download it from It starts at 6pm Monday March 28.
Dorky or not, I won and I am excited!

"I'm not really supposed to be here right now"

I did something really crazy yesterday!!!I bought a wedding dress!!!!!
I went to Patrick's after work and hismother and Aunt were there. I was talking to them about the wedding. Aunt Sue asked if I had picked a dress yet. "No, not yet" "Have you looked at all?" "No, I was going to wait until my sister comes home to look" Then she told me that David's Bridal was having their huge bridal gown sale. I just put it to the back of my mind. That night, I went to Michaels because I had a great coupon that was about to expire and there had been some things I had been meaning to get. On the way I passed Davids Bridal. I thought about stopping in just to look, but I decided against it. Then the whole time I was in Michaels I kept thinking about it. I thought 'It wouldnt hurt to just look at the sale dresses'
So I stopped in. There was a desk up front but no one was there, so I just walked up to the racks and started looking. I grabbed a couple I liked and went to the back where the dressing rooms were. I asked one of the consultant if I could try them on and she opened a door for me. They were nice but i didnt love any of them. Back to the racks I went. A different cunsultant, Jai, came up and asked if I needed any help. I asked what dresses were part of the $99 sale and she showed me how i could tell from the tag. As I was choosing a few more, the first consultant came up and asked if I had a consultant, I said no. Then she aske if I had registered up front. no. I had been doing it all wrong.
She took me to the desk and filled out some paperwork. Jai came and took me back to the dressing rooms. She gave me this bra/corset combo and put me in a few dresses I had picked. The first one was ok. I liked it, but i wasn't 100% sold. The second dress was amazing and the third was horrendous. She had me put on the second dress again and I totally loved it!!! The tag said it was originally $599.99 and on sale for $449.99. I had been saving up and knew that I could do it, but it was still a little higher than I hoped. She had me put on a few veils and I fell in love with the one and decided to get it all. I was going to do the layaway plan but when she rang it up at the register, the dress was really on sale for 299.99! Amazing. The veil however was 200, who knew veils were that much money.
It was very exciting, but the whole time, I kept thinking I shouldnt be hee, I shouldnt be doing this. Everyone asked me where my family and friends were and thats what I told them. I am not supposed to do this for another month.
I called my mom as soon as I left. She sounded a little dissapointed at first. But we are going to pick it up when Audra is in town, so they will be the first to see it. And instead of going dress shopping, mom is setting up a ton of appointments for cake testing and some accesory shopping. I am so excited!!
The dress is strapless, so I will need to get some sort of coverup. I also need to get some spanx. And because Patrick is a little shorter then me, I need to get some cute flats. The height difference doesnt bother me, but he hates it.

Everything seems to be coming together. I have almost everything for the centerpieces. The dress and veil have been purchased. The bridesmaids are picking out thier own dresses.I have all the invitations. I still have a LOT to do though. I need aphotographer for both the engagement and the wedding. I need a cake. I need a florist for the bouquets. I need a DJ and I need food. I will be going to a bridal convention in wildwood, so hopefully that will help me decide!

Bargain Shopper

I am officially in love with Bed Bath and Beyond clearance items!!! A couple weeks ago I was browsing their website and checked out the clearance tab. I found these great plates at an amazing price. They are white porcelain plates with a gold band. You get 12 of them for only $6.99!!! Here is a pic from the site, I have my own too with the whole set up, but I lost my camera cord it the disater that is my room.
I ordered the large dinner plates and the soup bowls because that is what I would really use. I also got gold charger plates, two sets of 6 for $5.99 a set. I was so excited!! Then a week later, I went back to get the smaller salad plate because it was just such a good deal! But it wasn't there anymore. Then about a week later (I visit this site too much) I was looking at the regular dinnerware and there it was, still at the clearance price so I got the salad plates. I also got two more sets of 6 chargers this time in a deep red. And I got placemats on clearance for $0.89 each so I bought 6 gold and 6 red.
I am so in love with my plates! They are not microwavable and handwash only, so they will be my special occasion plates. I love how simple and classic they are! and how cheap I got them!! Some china sets are like $80 for just one place setting! I got 12 place settings for less then $22!

Then this week, I went back onto the sight to look for bedding. I saw one I liked on clearance, but it was still $99 and I do have a good 6 months before I need it. I decided I would check ut the real store to see if there was something I liked even better. I went to the Mays Landing store yesterday and there wasn't anything too striking.
After Pat told me he was going to hang with his buddy, I decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Anthropologie. The closest one is in Marlton, an hour drive for me. I had self control and only bought a cute apron. On the way home, I passed a Bed Bath and Beyond there. I decided to flip a u turn and quickly check it out. It was 8:40 so i knew they would be closing soon. In the back of the store, they had a display of products super cheap that were broken or missing items. Each had a yellow tage explaining exactly what was wrong. I saw a really cute bedset that was only $29.95. Under the explaination part it said DNC. I had no clue what that meant and asked a saleswoman. She said it was Do Not Carry. That particular store doesnt sell that particular set so they were selling it super cheap. I asked if $30 was right and it wasn't really $299 and i was reading it wrong. When she said it was $30 I had to buy it. It has a comforter, a bedskirt, two standard shams, and a whole sheet set all for 30 bucks!!!
Tonight when Ilooked it up online, It retails on the sight for $149.99. I saved 120!! I am excited!
